Francais Phillips is a retired teacher who taught in the Calgary Board of Education for 25 years. With a first degree in Art Education from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College of Art in Oakville, Ontario, her second degree is a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary with second majors in early literacy and drama. Her first loves are teaching art and literacy to young children.

Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that all children benefit from opportunities to explore a variety of mediums and create art in an environment that encourages and nurtures their creativity. Teaching children techniques through guided lessons and opportunities to practice skills builds self-confidence and allows them to explore art as a form of self-expression. Most of all, children should have fun when engaging in all artistic endeavors.

Through a range of open-ended classes designed to meet students at their individual levels, Francais supports young artists in discovering what inspires them and helps foster a sense of accomplishment and joy throughout their artistic journey.
