Join Pearl for a Ceramic Taster Class and experience the joy of working with clay in a single, relaxed session. This 2.5-hour class is designed as a welcoming introduction to hand-building - perfect if you’ve never touched clay before or if you’re just curious to try something new. It’s also a perfect option for those with prior clay experience who’d like dedicated time and guidance to bring a specific project to life.

What to expect:

You’ll arrive to a prepared workstation stocked with clay and tools, then be guided through the basics of hand-building, including pinch pots, slab and coil building, scoring and slipping. With hands-on instruction and plenty of room to explore your own ideas, you’ll focus on form, design, and creative play at your own pace.

At the end of class, you’ll sign your piece and choose from three beautiful glaze options. Our studio team will glaze and fire your work for you, and it will be ready for pickup in a few weeks. Ceramics is a wonderfully unpredictable art form - while most pieces make it through the firing process beautifully, occasional cracks or kiln surprises can happen due to the nature of the materials.

Whether you come solo, with a friend, or as a small group, this class is a great way to unwind, make something with your hands, and try ceramics in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

What to bring:

All ceramic materials and tools are provided. We recommend bringing an apron (we have a few available in-studio) or wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy. We’ll have water, coffee, and tea available, and you’re welcome to bring another non-alcoholic beverage if you’d like.

Class size: Limited to 12 participants

Pricing: Ticket price is per person + HST (14%)

Weather: We love ceramics - but we love safety more! If the weather is not cooperating, we will postpone our class. We will send out an e-mail to reschedule the class.

Minimum registration:

This class requires a minimum of four participants to proceed.

Please note:

Pearl does not have access to internet service - we find it creates a more focused, creative atmosphere. You’re welcome to step outside the studio if you need to access service during class.
